Horley Under-9s 278, Salfords Under-9s 339. Salfords won.
Horley Under-9s struggled against some good bowling when they welcomed Salfords on Saturday. Choosing to bat first, the innings couldn’t have started better for Horley when Riley Hill hit his first ever six off the first ball as he and partner Charlie Webber went on to post a respectable score between them.
Horley’s second pair of Finley Jakins and Beau Money didn’t fare so well, as they fell to a brilliant hat-trick by Salfords Luca Molinari.
Luke Benjamin and Alex Mutton both also fell to Salfords bowling, although the latter hit two sixes and a four.
Jason Kennedy and Ruben Money struggled as Salfords chalked up several dot balls against them though Money found the boundary for a four.
Ryan Smith also scored two sixes as he closed the innings for Horley with partner Thomas Hitchman who scored his first ever four.
In the field, Horley started off well again with Hill and Ruben Money keeping Salfords’ run rate down with plenty of dot balls and no extras.
Jakins, Beau Money, Smith, Mutton and Benjamin all claimed a wicket each, as did wicket keeper Webber with a catch behind off a delivery by Jakins.
It wasn’t enough though as Salfords took their chances notching up plenty of singles from good running and some occasional loose fielding by Horley.
