Horley Under-17s won the East Surrey Colts League Cup final, beating local rivals Lingfield by 17 runs.
Lingfield put Horley in but only managed to take three wickets. An opening partnership of 49 by Aryan Patel and Christian Kelly set the home side up nicely and after Patel was bowled on 28, Kelly and Ben Remfry shared a terrific partnership of 91 for the second wicket.
Remfry finally fell on 56 and Kelly followed soon after for 40, but Horley had set an excellent total of 146 in their 20 overs and were in the driving seat.
Freddie Holland struck early in Lingfield’s reply to remove one of the openers but Lingfield batted well and kept up with the required run-rate for a good proportion of the innings. When Zack Collins joined the attack, Horley regained the upper hand, as he took two for nine in two overs, removing Lingfield’s top-scorer Tyler Robertshaw for 48.
Remfry, Ben Cooper and Ben Payne took one wicket each and Patel bowled three overs for 11 runs to help peg Lingfield back to a total of 129 from their 20 overs.
