Horley Under-15s 150-5 (20 overs), Addiscombe Under-15s 145-6 (20 overs), NEC League, Thursday 27 July, Horley Row. Horley won by five runs
A lovely innings of 49 not out by Christian Kelly helped Horley Under-15s set a big total of 150 in their NEC match against Addiscombe but the visitors made Horley sweat for the victory.
Addiscombe needed 14 off the last over but a six hit by Max Symonds helped them reduce that to six needed from the last three balls. However, bowler Aryan Patel kept his cool and prevented any more scoring to see Horley home.
Horley opener Joe Willis was unlucky to be caught on the boundary for just two. Kelly came in at four and hit seven fours in his innings, but also ran singles and twos well. Zack Collins made a swift 40, featuring seven fours.
In reply Addiscombe put on 60 for the first wicket but were then reduced to 94 for six before the final partnership almost earned the win. Patel, bowling leg-spin instead of his usual pace, took four wickets, including a terrific diving catch from Willis and a stumping by Kelly. The keeper also got a stumping off Shae Meacher’s bowling and Ben Cooper took the other wicket. Horley are now second in the North-East and Central Surrey Colts League.
