Having had their first two matches of the season rained off, Horley Under-14s finally completed a game but ended up losing narrowly to Newdigate.
Horley’s total of 105 in 20 overs was a little light. The openers found it tough to score freely but Harry Grimwood ended up top-scoring on 40 from 49 balls before he retired. Evan Grimwood made 19 and Udith Molanguri 16.
Frankie Patterson took two wickets for Newdigate, including a caught and bowled.
Horley restricted their visitors’ scoring well in the first half of the reply and set up a close finish, but Oliver Brien (27 not out), Thomas Clark (22) and Henry Wells (14) did enough to bring Newdigate home with three balls to spare at 106 for six.
Molanguri, Edward James, Luke Smith, Harry Grimwood, Will Agombar and Joe English took a wicket each.
