Horley Under-10s 273-7 (20 overs), Capel Under-10s 253-10 (20 overs). Horley won by 20 runs.
Good fielding and bowling from Capel made it tough for Horley’s first two pairs to score, but Khyan Patel and Matthew Bennett got things moving during their four overs at the crease.
Sam Terry then smashed a couple of quick boundaries and ran quick singles with Daniel Sired.
The last Horley pair of Henry Grimwood and skipper Matthew Girling hit a flurry of boundaries, including a six from Grimwood, who top-scored with 21. They took the Horley total to 273.
Capel’s first batting pair got off to a decent start with a couple of boundaries but Sired, Khyan Patel and Ollie Millard bowled tightly, backed up by good fielding, and all three picked up a wicket clean bowled to keep Capel in check.
Terry then bowled two fantastic, pacey overs and was rewarded with two more clean bowled wickets and Horley were still right in the game. A further run out after a good over from James Burgoyne and excellent work from Hrishi Patel kept things tight.
Terry picked up a crucial wicket off his last ball just as it looked things may have swung Capel’s way and they were 247-7 when the last pair came to the crease.
Excellent tight bowling from Millard and Sired allowed just four runs, with Millard taking another wicket.
Girling and Grimwood finished things off in style allowing no more net runs to be added as their disciplined bowling lead to two run outs with Capel eventually falling short on 253-10.
