Horley Sunday Strollers Blue 91-3 (12 overs), Jamaica Inn Pirates 90 all out (30 overs). Sunday 23 June. Horley Row. Horley won by seven wickets.
Four wickets from Craig MacFarlane were key as Horley Sunday Strollers Blue bowled out their visitors, Jamaica Inn Pirates, for 90, then coasted to victory. The Horley reply was relatively short and sweet but was notable for a knock of 30 by Chris Allen. He needed just 16 runs to reach a lifetime total of 20,000 for the club and got there with one of the five fours he hit.
Jamaica Inn batted first and were in all sorts of trouble at 33-7 before a stand of 38 for the next wicket brought them some respectability.
MacFarlane took two wickets in two balls in his fourth over and ended up with fine figures of four for 14 from seven overs – one a super diving slip catch from Chris Cosham. Skipper Dave Childs took two for six from four overs, Alex Field two for 26 from seven overs and Colin Terry and Martin March picked up a wicket each. Ashley Yeo, MacFarlane and March took a catch each.
Allen opened the Horley reply with Jonathan Barnett and Barnett took the initiative with a quickfire 39, including a six which went out of the ground. He was out just after Allen passed his landmark, but Horley were already well on the way to victory and an entertaining 13 from Terry, including three fours, helped take them there.
