Horley’s Sunday Strollers achieved a comfortable win over Sunbury, bowling the visitors out for 119 in 22 overs and then passing that score for the loss of five wickets in the 23rd over.
Sunbury batted first and Callum Tester took two early wickets, then father and son Dave and Kieran Childs got one each to reduce the visitors to 46 for four.
Alex Field and Leon Watson joined the attack and cleaned up the remaining wickets, with one batter run out by Nick Waddington. Field, the youngest player at the age of 14, took two for 11 from three overs, including a wicket maiden, and Watson got the final two batsmen out off consecutive balls, so he will be on a hat-trick in the next game.
Horley’s openers made a strong start, with Kieran Childs making 26 and Saleem Nadir 23. After a couple of cheaper wickets, Naveed Sherwani and Tester saw Horley home with some lusty blows, making 25 not out and 16 not out respectively.
