Horley Strollers 171 all out (37.2 overs), Lingfield Sunday First XI 223-4 (40 overs), Sunday 21 July, Horley Row. Lingfield won by 52 runs.
An unbeaten century from Robert Style (101, retired) enabled Lingfield’s Sunday XI to set a tough total of 223 from 40 overs and although Horley’s Strollers made a good attempt at chasing it, they came up 52 runs short.
Robbie McKenzie made 51 for Lingfield before Callum Tester had him caught by Dave Childs, while Tom Clargo took two wickets – one caught behind by Kieran Childs – and claimed a run-out.
Needed over five an over, Horley lost early wickets and were 17-3 but then Abdul Razzaq and Clargo put on a partnership of 63 for the next wicket, before Razzaq was run out for 15. Another quick wicket followed but when Clargo was joined by Nick Waddington, they made 63 together, before Clargo fell for 77 from 98 balls (five sixes and nine fours).
Waddington went on to make 37 but no one could stick with him long enough to give Horley a chance of victory and they were bowled out for 171 in the 38th over.
