Blackboys 162 all out, Horley Strollers 130 all out.
Horley Strollers, with a mixture of youth and experience in their ranks, travelled to Blackboys and won the toss putting the hosts into bat. Horley started off well with plenty of wickets taken, including four for Stewart Warren from his eight overs, three for Dave Childs from his six overs and two for 13-year-old Alex Field – his first wickets in senior cricket.
George Byles-Wilding also took one wicket and special mention is due to 11 year old Bailey Warren who kept wicket and took two stumpings, one off his colts team-mate Field, and a catch off his dad Stewart’s bowling.
Having bowled Blackboys out for 162, Horley started their reply well with 14-year-old Christian Kelly hitting 29 off 30 balls.
However when he was out a steady fall of cheap wickets followed. Byles-Wilding scored 19 and Stewart Warren hit an impressive 42 before finally being bowled out. Unfortunately this left the Strollers a few runs short and the game went to Blackboys.
