Horley’s Sunday Strollers chased down a daunting total of 165 in their 30-over match at Outwood to win for the second week in succession.
Outwood batted well to set their tough total. Their top scorer was J Hipkins who retired on 43, including seven fours and one six, although he was dropped four times. D Nelson also retired on 40 including seven fours.
Calum Tester took three for 43 from five overs, Naveed Sherwani took one for 24 and Lauren Waddington proved very tough to score from and took one for 21.
In reply, Horley always managed to keep up with the high scoring rate they needed. After losing a wicket on the first ball, Dave Childs and Craig Macfarlane put on 40 for the second wicket, with Macfarlane’s 12 including a six.
They both fell in the same over to B Briggs, with Childs making 26 from 28 balls, including three fours and a six.
Number four Nick Waddington batted through to finish on 19 not out, while Sherwani retired on 40 not out, including five fours and two sixes.
Horley reached 124-5 but then lost three quick wickets. However, Tester came in at 11 and made 32 not out, including seven fours, to see Horley home with 11 balls to spare.
