Eltham 195 all out (34.3 overs), Horley Strollers- 171-8 (40 overs). Eltham won by 24 runs.
Horley elected to field first in the deciding game of a series of three against Eltham.
Eltham’s opening batsmen made steady progress for the first wicket, but then a mix up between them resulted in a great runout from Colin Terry.
A bowling change saw Craig Macfarlane take the second wicket with a great ball which trapped the batsman lbw, and Terry then bowled the other Eltham opener on 49.
Another inspired bowling change from the skipper Nick Waddington saw Graham McNeill take the next wicket and Stewart Warren picked up two more for 12 runs off five overs.
Eltham were six wickets down when Leon Watson was brought on to bowl and a great catch from Terry gave him a wicket in his first over.
Kaine Stephens and Callum Tester then finished the innings by taking the last two wickets, finishing with 1-13 and 1-9 respectively meaning Eltham were bowled out for 195.
Horley’s innings got off to a stuttering start with the first five wickets falling for 55 runs. Waddington and Warren got the innings back on track with an 88 run partnership before Waddington fell on 48. Warren battled on to get his 50 and his innings came to an end when he was bowled on 56.
Their partnership meant Horley were back in the game and Stephens hit 13 off 16 balls late on, but it proved to be too late with Horley falling 24 runs short and finishing on 171-8 after 40 overs.
