Horley Hackers 140 all out (20 overs), Lingfield Lancers 83 all out (18.1 overs). Horley Hackers won by 55 runs.
Horley Hackers got their 20/20 Surrey Slam season off to a winning start against Lingfield Lancers.
Having elected to bat, Guy Derham and Ben Remfry made a fast start before Derham fell for 13. Remfry, who was Horley’s top-scorer with 28, also got good support from Jordan Robins (16) and Ross Nel (17) to take Horley to a total of 140 all out, with the last wicket falling on the final ball of the 20th over.
The pick of the Lancers’ bowlers was Simon Hooker, who took three for 13.
Horley – looking the part in new coloured kit from sponsors Keymex – were always in charge after the break. Their bowling attack restricted the Lancers’ batting and some excellent fielding resulted in Lingfield only managing three boundaries. Darren Croft and Matthew Puttick took three wickets each and Chris Cosham two, leaving Lingfield a mountain to climb from the 12th over onwards. Lancers captain Neil Wallace tried to steady the flow of falling wickets but was eventually cleaned up by the left arm of Robins with the first ball of the 19th over, and Lingfield were all out for 85.
