Horley’s Development team have reached the final of the Surrey Trust League for the third year on the trot and will hope it is third time lucky next Sunday after losing in 2011 and 2018.
They won Sunday’s semi-final with a terrific all-round performance, bowling Spencer out for 156 in 38.4 overs and chasing down the target in 34 overs to win by four wickets.
Sam Remfry took three wickets for 21, Ben Davies two for 24, Jon Barnett two for 37 and Matt Gainsford one for 23, while colts Kaine Stephens and Aryan Patel both got a run-out.
Charlie Robins also put in a notable bowling performance, conceding just six runs in his seven overs to stop Spencer making a good start.
In Horley’s reply, Davies top-scored with 47, Gainsford got 31 and Ben Remfry 21.
Horley will play Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian in next Sunday’s final.
