Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian Development XI 176-9 (40 overs), Horley Development XI 147 all out (39.3 overs), Surrey Trust League Tier Two Final, Normandy Cricket Club, Sunday 8 September. Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian won by 29 runs.
Horley were beaten by Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian in the final of the Surrey Trust League for the second successive year, falling short in their run-chase by 29 runs.
Trinity batted first and made 176 for nine from their 40 overs. Sam Remfry took three wickets for Horley, Guy Derham and Jordan Robins one each, but Trinity had wickets to spare in the last few overs which enabled them to hit out. Horley fielded well and got four run-outs, two from Matt Puttick and one each from Derham and Sam Remfry.
When Horley batted, Trinity’s bowling was tight and accurate and the batters got frustrated as they kept finding the fielders.
With a couple of their best batters from previous rounds of this competition unavailable for the final, Horley struggled to get any substantial partnerships going, with 45 for the seventh wicket from Sam Remfry and Aryan Patel the best they could manage. Sam Remfry top-scored for Horley with 35, batting at seven, his brother Ben got 19, Zack Collins 20 and Patel 19.
