Godalming 2nd XI 162 all out (49.3 overs), Horley 2nd XI 163-4 (39.3 overs). Horley won by six wickets.
Horley 2nd X1 have climbed into third place in the league table after comfortable victory away against a youthful Godalming side.
Economical bowling and a batting partnership of 78 between Dave Hyde (57) and Andrew Thomas (50) were the keys to the win.
Horley skipper Darren Croft won the toss and put Godalming into bat. A steady batting performance by John Milner, Godalming’s number two, was brought to an end on 73 by an inspired bowling change and the introduction of spinner Fizal Nadir, clean bowling the Godalming opener.
Nadir continued his excellent bowling spell to finish with four wickets for 28 runs in 5.3 overs.
Godalming fell just short of using the allocated overs with the visitors taking the tenth wicket in the 49th over, Godalming finishing with a total of 162.
Horley, with a strong batting line up, never looked in danger of not chasing down the target and made it to the finish line in 39 overs for the loss of only four wickets.
After the early loss of Craig MacFarlane and Saleem Nadir, Thomas joined Hyde at the crease and they both played well in defence, unleashing some handsome stroke play when the balls were there to be hit.
Once they were both out, Andrew Burbidge and Nick Waddington saw Horley home, with Burbidge ending up on 36 not out.
Bagging maximum points moved Horley to third spot in Surrey County League 2nd XI Division One, only two points behind both Roehampton and Sheen Park.
