A career-best bowling performance of eight wickets for 53 by Chris Cosham helped Horley 2nd XI beat Churt and extend their lead at the top of the Surrey County League 2nd XI Division One.
He bowled a mammoth 17.4 over spell and took the final wicket with three overs of the match remaining.
Having lost yet another toss Horley were put into bat on an indifferent surface. After Andrew Thomas fell early, 15-year-old Christian Kelly was joined by the experienced Stuart MacPherson and together they steadied the ship with Kelly playing some fine shots.
After drinks Kelly was dismissed for a well-played 27 to kick-start his senior career. Joined by Richard Waddington, MacPherson stepped on the gas hitting one over for 14 runs, including a straight six. MacPherson departed on 49 and Waddington followed for 30, but other contributions came from Andrew Burbidge, 29, Aryan Patel, 18, and Fizul Nadir, 15.
Horley skipper Darren Croft made a smart declaration on 204 giving Horley 51 overs to bowl Churt out.
Churt made a slow and steady start to the chase, not losing a wicket in the first 18 overs, but then Cosham got Horley going by clean bowling the impressive Dominic Saint for 24.
As Churt only had ten players, Horley needed just nine wickets and they began to fall at regular intervals with Cosham doing all of the damage.
Six of his victims were clean bowled and the other two were caught by Burbidge and Waddington. Matt Puttick took the other wicket, clean bowled, but Cosham closed the match out with 16 balls to spare.
With Shepperton losing, Horley take firm control at the top of Division One with a 21-point lead. This weekend they host Godalming.
