Horley 1st XI had a mixed weekend, losing their opening Surrey County League First Division match of the season on Saturday but winning in round one of the League Cup on Sunday.
In the league game, Horley batted first at Southern Railway, Kenley and Selsdon and made 167 for nine from their 45 overs. After some rain, the hosts had a revised target of 161 from 42 overs and reached it for the loss of five wickets in 35 overs.
Horley had a better day on Sunday, progressing to round two of the County League Cup after beating Effingham by eight wickets.
Effingham elected to bat and were bowled out for 135 from 44.2 overs. Horley reached their target off just 27.4 overs, finishing on 138 for two.
