Welcome to the Squash Section
A little about us
We are a small but old established club, who in 1978 amalgamated with the Horley Cricket & Hockey Club. We have two well maintained courts which are located in the cricket ground which can be found off Horley Row.
Internally members are invited to play in monthly leagues but additionally we field three representative senior teams who play in the Surrey County Squash Winter Leagues, our 1st team currently playing in the 3rd Division. The following is the link to the Surrey Squash League website where you can monitor our results - http://county.leaguemaster.co.uk Shortly we hope to enhance our booking system further by allowing members to also pay over the net thereby avoiding courts being reserved but subsequently not played, which we all know can be very frustrating. Historically we have been known as a club that encourages junior players and in this respect we are now intent on creating a strong coaching team, and are looking for volunteers to assist. The club will underwrite the cost of the coaches courses. Naturally for child protection purposes all coaches and support staff will need to complete a Data Barring Service application form which is monitored by our Child Welfare Officer. The Cricket Club carries the sort after accreditation of "Clubmark" and for our part we are intent on securing a similar award, using the experienced learned by our cricketing colleagues. Joining our club could not be easier as we welcome players of all standards, so if you are looking to play competitive squash or just want to learn more about the game this is the club for you. We believe that you will find us to be one of the cheapest clubs in the county. Please see the Membership page for a breakdown of our fees. Being a squash member entitles you to also play cricket or hockey if you feel so inclined. The good news keeps rolling on! Squash court fees are also very competitively pitched at just £4 a session although here we are considering creating off peak court fees to encourage to make full use of our courts. You pay for your court time by purchasing light meter tokens from the clubhouse bar, so it really could not be easier!! Add to that you are members of a club with a thriving social side. Our bar is open 7 days a week and sells the complete range of drinks from Lucozade for the fit, up to a range of beers, wines and spirits for the not so fit. It really does pay to be a member of our club as you will always find a friendly welcome when you enter the clubhouse. |
